A Prayer of Forgiveness
If you have found that you have been snared into Satan’s trap of division due to conflict over current worldly events or if you hold something against anyone in your life, whether it be a coworker, friend, a former friend or spouse, or a family member please forgive them so our Heavenly Father can forgive you. It is easy to mistake forgiveness for acceptance when we live with someone. To keep the peace many times we just don’t talk about it, we don’t bring it up as to avoid the drama. However, when we hold it (because we don’t how to let it go) it gives place to the devil within our lives and effects how we see things. From this darkened perception we form opinions and beliefs that are against the nature of God and we tend to justify or viewpoint.
So the bottom line is if there is darkness in our eyes we will see thing contrary to the nature of Christ. This is self-righteousness and the word of God calls this way of thinking unrighteousness; holding onto that hurt will lead us down the broad way to destruction. For to hold unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. Say this prayer out loud and ask the Lord to heal all the wounds, hurt, and grief that caused you not to be able to forgive in the first place. Finally bless the people who wronged you and what is the best blessing someone can receive? Salvation through Jesus Christ. If the people are not saved, pray for their soul. You wouldn’t want them to spend eternity in damnation would you? That’s loving your neighbor as yourself. If you need additional assistance contact us.
Father God your word says that if two or more agree on anything in Jesus name that it will be done for us. So we agree with everyone who reads this prayer individually with humility and true repentance that all the emotional hurt, pain, torment through remembrance be healed in Jesus name. We agree with our brothers and sisters who are in captivity to be freed now in Jesus name! Lord Jesus we thank you for your grace and mercy and ask that you teach all of us how to walk in your righteousness through the power of your Holy Spirit, Amen.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. ‘But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” – Matthew 5:43-45 KJV
What is grace if not allowance, if not mercy, if not love? The understanding of God’s grace can only be achieved through trials, though the humbling process that takes us from the offensive to the defensive, from a hellfire and brimstone mindset to one of compassion, from pointing at everyone to receiving everyone.
Individually we all have to come to the revelation that “I get it wrong all the time and he still forgives me when I stumble, He still loves me when I have been overcome by temptation. That my lord Jesus is a friend to publicans and sinners, so Lord please have mercy upon me for that is who I am.”
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” – Proverbs 14:12 NKJV
“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” – Matthew 6:14-15 KJV
“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.” – Ephesians 4:26-27 KJV
Read out loud
Father God I come to you in the name of your son Jesus. I have sinned and I ask that you have mercy on me. I forgive everyone that I have held in judgment and all the things I have said against them.
Please forgive me if I have caused any others to stumble out of the darkness of my own heart. I ask you Lord Jesus to soften my heart to everyone I have held something against. Please remove the darkness in my eyes and open my eyes of understanding so that I may see them as you do. Please remove this evil heart of unbelief that has caused me to error.
I repent for passing unrighteous judgment for you are the only judge and law giver and I ask that you forgive me for not forgiving them earlier. Holy Spirit, I am sorry for grieving you, please forgive me.
Your word says I am to cast my care upon you Father God, so I release the following people to you as well as any and all situations that have snared me into error. I am not wise or just, for you justify me and I humbly accept all of your judgments for they are righteous. I thank you for the trials you have given me in chastening me, because you love me. Holy Spirit I ask you in the name of Jesus to please allow me to rest and bring to my remembrance everyone whom I need to forgive so that I may do so now.
Take a few moments and let the Holy Spirit lead you.
Lord Jesus I choose to forgive, release, and bless the following people.
Now say them out loud name by name and release all the hurt to Jesus.
Lord your word says in Luke 4:18 that Jesus was sent to heal the brokenhearted, to bring deliverance to the captives, and recover the sight to the blind. So Father right now in Jesus name I ask that you heal my broken heart, deliver me from captivity, and give me eyes to see and ears to hear what your Holy Spirit is saying to me. I humbly ask you Lord Jesus to set me at liberty for I have been bruised by the devices of this world. Please bless the people who I have release to you and remove all bitterness I have held towards them.
I ask that you fill the place I gave to the devil with your Holy Spirit, to bring healing and restitution within my life, and renew the spirit of my mind; in the Holy name of your son Jesus Christ, Amen.
