Adam & Eve Today

There are some believe that men are to rule over their wives, this belief comes from that of a hardened heart due to offense. False teachers in the eyes of God for this is not His character nor His instruction to men. Commonly understood that his headship is that in ruling, but does not give him permission to enforce that rule, save for allowance; and this is where grace comes into play within marriages.

Wives are instructed to submit unto their husbands, and that’s between them and God. The same need to repent and turn their heart to the Lord, not continue to choose scriptures that condemn those they don’t agree with; for whatsoever the law says, it says to the that are under the law, for the law is the knowledge of sin. (Rm 3:19-20)

God does not force men he said “come let us reason together” (Isa 1:18) He ask men to follow him even though they are made in His own image, just as woman is made in man’s image. God’s behavior is a man’s model of such, Moses being the meekest man on Earth who was also married. God made woman from the rib of man to be at his side, just as those in obedience to Christ the LORD considers to be co-laborers with him, not under him.

Likewise, it is not the job of a husband to enforce his rule over his wife; her desire should be for her husband to rule over her. Sarah even calling Abraham Lord followed him into the dessert not afraid with any amazement. (1 Pet 3:6) We can save ourselves some heartache here saints as God said “My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge” (Hos 4:6)

“Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life” – Genesis 3:16-17 KJV

God told Eve her husband shall rule over her, God did not tell Adam do be authoritative. There is a difference here in that a Christian man is to exercise patience walking with his woman in knowledge and honor as the weaker vessel, not lording over her to bend to his will. If a wife unreasonably resist her husband, does he not have grace for her laying down his own life for her as the head to the body, as Christ did for the church? She is required to love her husband in respect for him, but such is impossible if he controls her. #wivesarenotslaves

The devil’s ploy here is to get married men and women fighting for with doubt the serpent deceived Eve “Hath God said?” Three little words caused her to question Adam’s motives in saying not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Suggesting to her there is something you should have on that tree, but he is keeping you from it.

Marriage is a favorite thing for Satan attacks and he’s been doing it since the beginning. “Hath God said?” Beguiling her into doubting her husband’s direction, attacking his character, thereby weakening him in her eyes. Then the serpents offered her knowledge to be like gods.; and through her unjust acceptance by fear of his lack of ability, her survival instincts kicked in and she ate from the tree. For she saw that the tree was good for food (lust of the flesh) pleasant to the eyes (lust of the eyes) and desirable to make one wise (The pride of life)

Three little words made her think of Adam as an enemy. Therefore, she ate and adopted the serpent’s nature then went to Adam not with an apple in hand, but with harsh words of the very death she was warned against. Adam never experiencing such before retorted in kind and picking apart one another, they became naked in their insecurities.

And is that not exactly what we do when we fight? Man is made in God’s image, does God argue? But when a man takes the bait due to his pride, he rails right back and in this, eats from the same tree Adam ate from. And because Adam didn’t repent to God for such, but instead blamed God and the woman for his own words in provocation, he cursed his own land. “The woman you gave me made me eat from the tree” How the tongue is an unruly member indeed.

Men and women are and will be judged differently by God as they have gender specific roles and duties to maintain. Nevertheless, men are not to discipline their wives for rebelling to them, we’re not under Sharia Law here folks. A few years back we were working with a married couple who were confused with that very issue and when the man was crossed he would spank his wife; this was not foreplay for them, he was treating her like a little child. He repented of such and they are still together today after taking their problems with one another to the Lord.

And that’s the focus here, falling upon the rock in repentance and allowing the Lord to circumcise your heart. Wives do not rebel against their husbands, it is God who they transgress against in refusing to follow their husband’s lead; if your His son then it’s His problem not yours. Remember, when you were in rebellion to Him, He gave you grace just the same then saved you from yourself.

Therefore, love her as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it; for whosoever seeks to gain his life shall lose it and whosoever willingly loses it for Christ Jesus shall find it. Wives honor thy husbands and love one another as you would to be loved. For we only live once here on Earth and no one knows what tomorrow brings, make the best of your time here with each other.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be upon you all. God bless and take care.
