Understanding Circumcision vs Uncircumcision
Its A Heart Matter
There are many different viewpoints within Christianity, yet we are instructed that neither circumcision nor uncircumcision make a difference for we are new creatures in Christ thus, Christians need not worry if someone doesn’t feel convicted the same as them over watching or listening or attending something in their daily life. Likewise, those who feel free to live as such should not impose their freedom upon those who do believe otherwise. To those who have received uncircumcision in understanding of such, being taught circumcision will appear to be bondage to them. The Apostle Paul give us an account of this:
“And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me: But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)” Galatians 2:2-8 KJV
Paul identifies those who attempted to “correct him” into their walk as false brethren, because where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. However, the men he dealt with who came to hear him, not for his message, but to judge him for not living as they do. We also clearly see that while uncircumcision was given to Paul, circumcision was given to Peter for they were sent to different people slaves to their own calling unto the Lord.
*It is important understand that the circumcision given to Peter is not in a physical sense. Paul is not speaking about the circumcision of the male anatomy, its circumcision of the heart as he illustrates to the Romans.
“For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” – Romans 2:25-29 KJV
It is the mindset of attempting to balance qualities of the law through rules and regulations that are acceptable to men while also attempting to fulfill the law by love. However, transgressing one law of the 613 laws, offends them all. Paul called Peter out on this very thing as an example for us when Peter separated himself to eat with the Jews which then segregated the Gentiles showing favoritism. (Gal 2:11-19)
“Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.” – Romans 4:9-10 KJV
Therefore, Paul explains that through obedience to the Holy Spirit, we are Jews inwardly through the circumcision of our heart which fulfills the law of Christ there by becomes uncircumcision by faith. Calling into existence things that are not as though they were, trusting God to meet you in them just as he honored Abraham who hoped against all hope by faith he believed the promise of God to make him the father of many nations and therefore, it was so.
“But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.
Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.” – 1 Corinthians 7:17-24 KJV
As stated to the Corinthians those who are called to uncircumcision are not to attempt to impose their walk on anyone else, the word says “let”, meaning allow them the freedom to choose by faith which suits them better. Otherwise they will not feel free.
“Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
Let not then your good be evil spoken of: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” – Romans 14:4-19 KJV
As Paul writes, grieving someone with the meat of the word by telling them what they should be doing according to what you can do is in fact, placing a ‘stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.’
Now to understand what a brother in Christ is according to Jesus himself;
“Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.” – Luke 8:19-21 KJV
This is also recounted in both Matthew 12 and Mark 3 where it is said “whosoever shall do the will of God, my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” It is therefore, the will of the Lord not to transgress upon one another for the haves and have nots in Christ.
“For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” – Romans 14:20-23 KJV
If you eat your meat with forks don’t proclaim your superiority to those who use chopsticks. It is the misunderstanding of these things that allows the devil to operate freely within the body of Christ; judging one another for not being the same.
Thereby, pride of one’s walk over the other bears no acceptance of that person’s relationship with the Lord. Perhaps they need to grow more, perhaps you do as well. But when these principles are not followed Satan cast doubt upon people in that their relationship with Jesus Christ is false and if they receive it, he has access to them; for they no longer have faith in their own conviction by which they are called. As Paul wrote, “Happy is he that is not condemned of himself in that which he allows”. To do such makes men false brothers do to ignorance. Therefore, novices lifted up by pride snared by the devil become false teachers by imposing their walk on everyone else as the only righteous way; they are by definition, another Jesus attempting to lead people through their door into the sheepfold.
This begets the doctrine of the Nicolaitan by men who Jesus calls benefactors,
“And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.” – Luke 22:25-27
Disciples of Christ are servants to all men, not to one man, but obviously that man will disagree.
Imposing upon others their truth for someone else’s own good, offending with doubt and judgment, bringing people into their understanding by their brutish nature of knowledge derived from experience, which they only see as assertive; for the violent in words take the kingdom of heaven by force. Hellfire and brimstone, condemnation for Christ is their mission to pluck who’ve they’ve judged out of the fire… Woe unto them.
Denominational disagreements for Christ are invalid by default for Christ is not divided (1 Cor 1:10)
It is the division “in Christ” through religious denominations
that separates people from knowing who Jesus Christ is to them.
Baptists, Pentecostals, Non-Denominational, etc., all are equally qualified to error for the truth of Jesus Christ is an individual relationship with him, boldly we go into the throne room through Christ Jesus, not another man’s interpretation of him. However, men are not considered false due to their varied beliefs from indoctrinated opinions; for no one can say someone isn’t loving God to the best of their own understanding, God ponders the hearts not man.
However, this is not to say do not attend church or forsake the assembling of ourselves together, but in simplicity man does not belong to a denomination, but to Christ. Therefore, it is how we consider ourselves within our heart before all else that makes the difference.
“As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.” – Galatians 6:12-15 KJV
Therefore, what makes a false teacher false is their fruits; the effect of their doctrine in the name of Jesus Christ that is proclaimed to be truth, boasting of their works of righteousness, but in reality builds a false foundation that lead people to another Jesus, to receive another gospel, by another spirit, therefore, let them be accursed and be the light, God is able to make them stand if they so desire. (Ga 1:6-10)
“Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.” – Romans 3:27-31 KJV
So then neither circumcision nor uncircumcision are the measuring sticks subjected to each individual, it is the transgression from those walks in ignorance of them in which men error by violating the 2nd commandment. It is by faith in God that he will meet your request in the name of Jesus Christ for you are abiding in his commandments. It is by faith without transgressing against someone that establishes the new law of Christ. Thereby, the application of that faith in action becomes uncircumcision in knowing you are justified by God through your obedience to him and love towards one another. This is what it means to believe and greater things will you do in His name!
There are no more works done of oneself, there are no more generational curses that need to be broken if you believe Christ became the curse for all as he hung on a tree, it is accepting you are not good and God loves you just the same as he does Jesus. The need to do has passed away in that you are not required to please God to earn anything, there is no make up test for that is living in condemnation, salvation is a free gift, not of works lest any man should boast. Thinking that your works (food pantry, praying for someone, fasting for someone as examples) make you righteous by God, actually are a work in itself if done to be righteous by men or if there is a hint of self value achieved from such; for in this transgression against one another is justified. Shall we continue in sin that grace may be achieved? God forbid (Rom 6:1-2)
“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.” – Galatians 2:16-19 KJV
It is keeping of the commandments of God that matters; love thy neighbor as thyself.
It is our prayer that the grace of the Lord is sufficient for you by the precious blood of Jesus Christ is also sufficient for someone else through you, as the prince of life instills fountains lo living water within, the Lord’s mercy be upon you all; may God bless you and take care.
